Asthma-Friendly Childcare Centers

The Florida Asthma Coalition has recognized almost 50 child care centers, and many more centers are on their way to achieving this award.  These are centers where administrators, staff, families, and clinical partners are working together to help children with asthma properly manage their disease.  The coalition has mentors across the state ready to help child care centers through the application process. Click here to view the Mentor Map. Centers are encouraged to work with a mentor in their area when applying for recognition. The first step of the process is submitting an Asthma-Friendly Childcare Center Interest Form. 

Child care centers meeting criteria for excellence in asthma management can be recognized at the bronze, silver, gold, and platinum levels.  The Asthma-Friendly Childcare Center Application is accepted year-round; centers are awarded on a rolling basis as applications are received. Beginning December of 2017, the Asthma-Friendly Childcare Center recognition award is valid for two years from the award date.
